Introducing Lauren, Registered Manager at Ferneyhough Farm House

We are proud to introduce Lauren Gallagher, the Registered Manager of Westbury School House. With ten years of experience in the childcare sector, Lauren has spent the last four years leading the exceptional team at Westbury School House, a four bedded children’s home within the Unique Care Group.

Lauren has recently taken on the management of Ferneyhough Farm House, following our successful Ofsted registration inspection in June 2025.

Her commitment to shaping young people’s lives ensures they achieve the best possible outcomes, regardless of their circumstances. Lauren is deeply passionate about fostering a safe, supportive environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Under Lauren's leadership, the team at Ferneyhough Farm House has consistently provided high-quality care to young people with a range of learning disabilities, including conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASC), ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and emotional difficulties. Lauren has worked diligently to build, maintain, and develop her care team, ensuring they deliver the highest standard of care and support to the children and young people who live at Ferneyhough Farm House.

Ferneyhough Farm House

Ferneyhough Farm House is a children's residential home that provides care for young people, ages 5 to 18, who may have learning disabilities and co-occurring needs. Our home offers a warm, nurturing, and safe environment for young people to live, learn, and grow. The home includes five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, two lounges, a sensory room, an office, and a laundry room.

Our primary aim is to create a supportive and empowering environment where young people can achieve positive outcomes, develop their personal, social, and emotional wellbeing, and receive the guidance they need for all aspects of their lives. At Ferneyhough Farm House, we take a highly individualised approach to care, ensuring that each young person’s unique needs, strengths, and aspirations are recognised and supported.

Our Approach to Care

At Ferneyhough Farm House, we believe that the key to successful outcomes for young people lies in the dedication and expertise of our staff. We invest in continuous staff development to ensure our team has the skills and knowledge to meet the evolving needs of the young people in our care. This enables us to provide the highest level of support, helping each young person to progress in their personal journey.

We take a person-centred approach to care, placing the individual at the heart of everything we do. We use a variety of communication tools, such as Makaton, PECS, and electronic aids, to ensure every young person can communicate effectively and understand their care plan. This tailored approach empowers our young people to take responsibility for their decisions, express their views, and celebrate every milestone along the way.

We are proud of the achievements of both our team and the young people we support. By focusing on our children’s individuality and strengths, we offer a ‘person centred’ approach with the young person at the heart of everything we do. We tailor the way we work to meet the young person’s individual needs, strengths, aspirations and interests.
